This 100 page book takes the reader on a geographic journey of exploration and transforms ravishing textile designs from many countries into knitwear patterns. It contains knitting patterns for matching sets of hats, mittens, slippers and bootees in designs varying from simple (many can be made in a day) to more complex and in yarns suitable for a variety of climates. Instructions are given for US knitters as well as for UK readers, and photographs of finished garments and illustrations of the source material that inspired the designs are featured. Simple-to-follow essential technical details are also included.

Many of the patterns use recycled materials and are ideal for knitters who hoard redundant oddments of yarn and wonder what to do with them. The garments can be made as gifts for family members and friends or as handmade items to sell at fund-raising events.
